New concept, old soul

Redheaded Stranger blurs the classic lunch counter with the streetside taco shop, taking its cues from family-run restaurants that have served locals for decades. The brand needed to capture this charisma in every sense, from the language on the menu to the murals around the restaurant. Working with founding chef Bryan Lee Weaver and our longtime partner and restaurateur Michael Shemtov, we collaborated throughout its opening to create a holistic experience that feels at once fresh and classic, clean and warm, modern and generational.

Feeling right at home

The food speaks for itself, so our goal with the brand was to make visitors feel comfortable the moment they walk in the door. The experience also needed to fit in among the colorful East Nashville food scene. Looking to classic taco shops as inspiration, we blended a fresh take on a Southwestern palette with a unique and charming aesthetic. The identity system was designed to be dynamic and flexible instead of monolithic, capturing the spirit of a brand that has evolved over time with a range of mark-making, while the language took on an ultra-casual, near-simplistic tone to reinforce the brand’s laid-back nature.
